Loxi's event editor supports oEmbed, a way to embed rich media, like videos, into event pages. Here's how it works.
When creating or editing an event, open the Basic Details tab from the event settings.
Next, copy and paste the URL of the video into the event description. For example, on YouTube, you would open the video's Share options and copy the link they provide (e.g. https://youtu.be/nfWlot6h_JM).
After saving the post, the video will automatically be embedded on the event page. Note that the video will appear as a link as long as you are logged into your account. No worries though: your visitors will see the actual video.
Embedding media as conditional content
Loxi is capable of displaying content to certain users who have submitted an RSVP for an event. Conditional content also supports embedded media, which means it's possible to show a video, Zoom link, phots or any other oEmbed content only to registered guests.
Supported sites
The following services support oEmbed and can be embedded in Loxi events:
- YouTube
- Vimeo
- Giphy
- Imgur
- Photobucket
- SoundCloud
- Spotify
- SlideShare
- Speaker Deck
- SmugMug
- Tumblr
- Animoto
- Blip
- DailyMotion
Additional information
- Check the URL. If there are any trailing spaces after the URL, the video will fail to load. Make sure there are no spaces after the URL when pasting it into the event description.
- Check oEmbed support. For oEmbed to properly work, the site that hosts the media needs to support it. Many of the most popular web services do, but not every site does. Refer to the list of supported providers above or check whether the site linked to supports embedding media on other sites.
- Beware of Google Chrome's auto hyperlink paste. Any URL copied from the web address bar while using Google Chrome, automatically gets converted to an hyperlink (as opposed to the actual oEmbed-friendly link). To fix this, use the share button found on the media page you are trying to embed and paste that URL instead.
- Read the announcement. This feature was announced in April 2020.
